Intro + Palisade Harvest Host

October 25, 2016

Hello from Palisade, Colorado!

For those of you that know us in real life this first post might be kind of boring but for everyone else, here is a little intro.

We are Blake and Britney Menter. Newly-ish weds who decided to quit our jobs, sell our house, and travel for a year with our two dogs! It might sound impulsive but this has actually been a long time coming. This plan has been floating around in our heads for about 3 years. It started out as a reason to chicken out on buying  house. We thought if they didn't accept out offer we would just buy a van and go - but then they did - and so we were homeowners.

We kept talking about it though and earlier this year we started getting more serious about it. We bought the RV a few months ago and decided to sell the house. It went a little faster than I thought it would and  we had to get serious pretty quickly about leaving. We stored a lot of things with my very wonderful and generous parents and stayed with our equally generous brother and sister in law for a few weeks while we wrapped up work and got the rest of our things in order.

And now - after what seems like forever, and also just 3 seconds at the same time - we are on the road! We don't have a super solid plan but we do plan to post our map, what we liked most about where we've been and an occasional video if we can get it together. Until we are totally up and running check on Instagram to see where we are and a few more pics!

Anyway, our first day of travel was a pretty long one. We headed from my parents house near Colorado Springs all the way here to Palisade. Its probably one of the longer days of driving that we will have. We stayed here at a Harvest Host location. If you guys haven't heard of it - it's really cool. Brewery's, Winery's and Small Farms participate in this program that allows RVers to stay for free if they make a small purchase from the business. Our first night was at St. Katherine's Cellars and it's really pretty here. It's a cute little winery and vineyard and made for a great first night. I was hoping to see a few more RV's but it is pretty late in the season.

Next up is Moab!

We will be back later today or tomorrow to show you guys where we are and what we're doing. We're planning on hitting Arches National Park so I'm sure we'll get some good photos:)

Happy Tuesday!
